The tail end of my time in Grinnell was a little depressing, as it tends to be every time. Friday I went on a walk with my camera. I walked around the new dorms theyre building on North Campus, just across the block from our house. The view out our back window, which used to be of Mac Field and Gates Tower, so stately and gothic and dependable, is now completely obscured by a half-finished structure, rectangular and formidable, with bright yellow insulation between grey beams, tarpulins batting about in the wind. I walked around this monstrosity and across Mac Field, saw students walking down the loggia and realized this place still exists as a very real, very present school for many, not just as a static stomping ground in my memory.
