Pennsylvania rocks.

I knew this already, but it's nice to have it reconfirmed. We're in Meadville PA, home of Allegheny College, a picturesque little campus. It was nice to walk around the place in the cold air today and reminisce about my own college days. I got that sad Sunday feeling that cold autumn afternoons evoke. The knowledge that you have to go back to school tomorrow. Except I don't. I get to go and drink beer with my aunt and uncle in Allentown. So there.

I woke up in Virginia dark
stretching like a cat against the windows
and scrambling to get these words down
in what remains of the daylight
climbing each promising step
of the secret stair to midnight
bracing a childhood sky, all around me
Appalachia rising
