Remember what you see
19 June 2003

Perhaps the most compelling sign I've ever received for the existence of a benevolent God would be a nice cool breeze. I came to this conclusion five years ago at camp, while the kids and I were taking a break from a strenuous game of capture the flag. The perfect breeze blew down into the basin formed around the field by the forested hills. I'm sorry, but what could be a purer, more obvious sign?

all thought rushes in yet again, even in the sweltery half-naked inconsequence of these last days on the cusp of summer ... we've been taking pictures in a hurry, preparing ourselves for what lurks in the sunken slowdown ... out of breath and streaked by the half moon, diffuse and turning the world blue
