Talk dirty to me.
23 June 2003

Today I got into a pretty heated argument with an 8-year-old who said she "hated" Sesame Street, found it "boring," and contended that Spongebob Squarepants is far more educational. I went off on how Sesame Street has been around longer than I have, and has educated three generations of kids. Futhermore, I fumed, Spongebob Squarepants and its ilk are nothing more than half-hour commercials for toys. After I calmed down, I realized something unnerving: I'm turning into my parents.

My argument is further bolstered by the fact that the 8-year-old in question is not very bright. I'm sorry, but it's true.

Word has it that CC Deville was at Gabe's last Wednesday. Apparently he was playing a show somewhere nearby, probably the Quad Cities, and was using his spare time to check out the local scene. He said he'd be happy to jam with any of the bands that were playing that night, but none of them took him up on the offer, which is just plain nuts. If CC Deville showed up to see you play, wouldn't you invite him onstage? After Chris told us this at rehearsal, Nolan launched into a searing impromptu rendition of "Talk Dirty To Me".

And then there's the weekend's toga party friendship ...
