0000-0027: Give my hair a trim. Not half-bad, considering.
0030-0300: Drink several whiskey ginger ales.
0030-0300: Transfer 10-year-old VIVID recordings onto CD as part of the ongoing archival project. Marvel that I was in a junior in high school one decade ago; alternately cringe and laugh at our youthful naivet and audacity.
0100-0300: Receive emails from Leah and Colleen, write to Leah and Margaret. Attempt several online acrostics, fail, give up.
0300-0330: Read three Raymond Carver stories.
0330: Retire.
0330-0800: Sleep.
0800-1100: Sleep.
1100-1235: Sleep.
1235: Wake to discover text message from Jason on my phone: "There's Quizno's in the fridge. Eat that shit."
1236-1440: Watch Election while surfing the web and importing CDs onto my iPod. Make an omelet and drink several cups of tea. Talk to Courtney on the phone.
1440-1515: Continue surfing the web while rediscovering old Faith No More albums. Rejoice to find that Ransom has updated his blog. Write to Katie, learn that Sarah B and Ransom will be here tomorrow night. Chuckle at ongoing developments in the blog-baiting arena.
1515-1545: Shower and dress myself (successfully). Use product in my hair for the first time in a while.
1545-1645: Go on a walk. It's already getting dark out. Go into Myopic and Reckless without buying anything. Walk past the Real World house (now a gym) and the High Fidelity record store (now abandoned). Wonder how much a Bank One shouting Christmas tree makes per hour.
1645-1815: Do a random drop-in at Aden's. Get high with him and Tim while watching the Simpsons and That 70s Show. Discuss the relative merits of Donna vs Jackie. Go through the Reader job listings, wonder if I can lie about having 5+ years of AutoCAD experience.
1830: Come home, watch Seinfeld, make pesto spaghetti, the extent of my culinary prowess.
1850: Talk to Ransom on the phone.
1900: The brain killing continues. That 70s Show ...
1930: ... and The Simple Life.
2000: Drink some whiskey. Read the Onion.
2030: Walk to Katie's to watch the Tenacious D DVD and drink beer. So glad she only lives four blocks away.
2315: Return home. Fix myself two tuna sandwiches.
2330: Resume VIVID archival project. This time, a live show from September 1993 where we covered Fugazi, Fishbone, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, and debuted our ten-minute prog-rock epic "Metropolis," based on the Fritz Lang movie. What we were doing may have been silly at times, but it wasn't what your average sixteen-year-old was doing. God, I miss those kids.
2332: Write Margaret, again.
2359: End of the day. Probably still drinking beer. Probably still wallowing in past accomplishments. Good night. |
