Truly yours
05 March 2004

At work, the attorneys close letters to the opposing counsel with Very truly yours. I find this hilarious because its so not sincere, and the very truly appended to the front of yours just makes it ten times less genuine, as if to really drive the point home that were so not yours, very truly or otherwise, and were going to flay your sorry ass if if this case ever makes it to trial.

Last night Jason and I went to Estelles with some friends of his from work. We immediately fell into an absurd and often peurile cycle of conversation; perhaps I did this in order to prevent the others from lapsing into discussions laden with computer-geek argot. It wasnt all crass, though; I think we may have, at certain points, discussed death, Catholicism, and file-sharing. Jason and I kept referring to each other as life partners. As we drank more beer we conceived grandiose plans of a hip-hop project and a Reverend Lovejoy reunion and came up with nonsensical slogans to put on t-shirts, like Everyones A Lesbian At Mardi Gras and Necrophilia: At Best, A Risky Prospect.

Guess you had to be there.

This morning it was dark and windy outside, but warm. I love it. This is early spring weather, Friday in the city weather, stand on the bridge above the turbulent churning water weather, watch people on the train platform get their hair blown around in the wind weather, fall into a nap on the couch listening to the Sea & Cake weather. Now, its cleared up outside, and through the eastern windows one can see for miles out over the lake. In parts of the building you can hear the structure creaking as the wind blows it back and forth. Im putting in half a day, then I'm going to blast out of here to Grinnell.

Good things right now:
- films with subtitles
- computer-geek argot
- anything with Dan the Automators fingerprints on it
- direct deposit
- Ransoms birthday
